Criminals hate light because it makes it hard to hide. Along with motion lights set up outside your house you should also have timed lights inside your house. Timers can be bought for very cheep at any local home improvement store. Timers are very simple to operate. Of coarse there are fancy ones and simple ones, but the basic operation is that you plug a light into the timer, and then the timer plugs into the wall. You can then set the timer to turn that lamp on and off at certain times of the day. You can buy timers that change on a daily basis, but if you don’t want to spend that much money just buy one that changes at the same time every day, just make a habit of changing the settings every so often so no one who may be watching the house will figure out a Patten, which in turn will give him the clue that the lights are on timers.
The best thing to do is put a couple lamps throughout your house that plug into the wall, then put them on timers Do not put your main lighting sources on timers because you want to be able to manually operate those lights.
These are very useful especially when you are on vacation. Not only does it make it appear that someone is home, but if someone actually is inside the police, or neighbors can see inside the house to realize that an intruder is inside.
Remember that you want to play on a criminals doubt. If someone Might be home in one house, but the know someone is not home in another they will go for the other.
It will also save you money so you don’t have to leave a light on all day and night, just remember never to form a pattern. Change the timers settings every couple days so again, you will create a doubt in a possible intruders mind. “yes, they might be timers, BUT, they might not be and someone might be home”
